That's hilarious: "not just a white track and black grass". I should take it as a subtle hint. :)

I was among the lucky who saw a work-in-progress version of this game. I was already impressed back then, and the final just added to the overall experience.

Holy Schneikies, that's not bad at all!

I'd really like to see this on the TI-86 'cause I don't have a TI-83+ :-( or at least release the source so I could port it myself. (if you already released the source, please point me to it; I couldn't find it.)

How much faster? Enough that it can be attributed to only a smaller screen?

Scrolling sideways is harder than scrolling vertically.
So it could be that the slower speed results from megacar having to deal with a wider screen.

First: my screen is as wide as Megacar one, and it's highter. Second, when screen is highter, you have more horizontale to do, because more line have to me scrolled...

I looked at both screen shots and I see that they extend the entire screen width.
Because the 86 screen is wider I do not see how you can say that they have the same width.

Oh, you'r talking about Ti86 version of megacar.. because it also exist on Ti83+, as an apps. So I must admit that the sreen of Ti86 is wider... But Ti86 as an advantage, the" sreen is directly mapped on RAM, no need to use very slow sending DATA to screen...

It's a tradeoff. I imagine a black and white track lends itself to a much higher compression ratio. I don't know the full details of how something like megacar stores it's data.

Megacar seems to be tilemapped as well. On the other hand, Death Rally is not tilemapped, it stores a huge bitmap of the track which it converts to a 16*16 times as big tilemap on the fly (always the visible part only). That's why the track area is so huge (a feeble excuse for lame graphics :).

Is TINYcar a play on MEGAcar? Anyway this game is great. One of the best features is how you can watch your best time after your already done! Why is the Tiny car bigger than the Mega car anyway?

I was wondering if the author of Tinycar named his program TINY car, meaning the opposite of MEGA car, they are basicly the same game (Although Tinycar has better graphics) so maybe the author was poking fun of Megacar. The names just seemed too similar to be a coincidence, especially since the games are so simular.

Does that make more sense?

No, in fact, the "TiNY" was the same that "TiNY worms"...I chose this word because the Ti is Tiny... First I wanted to xall the game "TiNY machine" like Micro machine, but Tiny car sounds better to me... (but I'm not native english, I might be wrong...). If I keep on programming for Ti, my next game might be 3TiNY tournament", a 2D review of unreal tounament, or maybe "TiNY CAR 2" exactly the same, but with opponent... Tell me what you'ld prefer...
