Lots and Lots of Slithery, Twisted Fun
Posted by Michael on 26 January 2004, 23:45 GMT
For those of you in an chordate mood, Reggie Tucker has updated Snake 2, intended to be a 83+ clone of the nibbles game found on many cell phones. It's still under development, and only the "New Game" feature is working in this v0.8 release.
But, if you have a 89, there's Mr Worm by Jean-Francois Geyelin, an expanded version of nibbles where your annelid friend can move in forty directions instead of the usual four. May the apple consuming commence!

Nice. I don't have a 68k but this does look cool. Reminds me of Anaconda from TimeSplitters 2... anyone else play that? :)
I'll have to check out this Uncle Worm game also.

Some explain to me why Snake 2 is worthy of a "Featured Program" status, because I'm really missing something here.
Theres 50 other Nibbles clones out right now that are better than that one... and don't randomly crash (as the readme says). Just because it wants to emulate the Nokia version... which is just a ripoff of every other Nibbles game... does not mean it deserves Featured status...

Ooh... ouch. I think he was referring to this line from the readme:
"Freezezes sometimes during gameplay w/o any known side effects."
Now, I have played the one on the Nokia cell phone, and it's better than the older version of Snake (the one I have on my phone). The main problem with the game (the phone version) is the way it handles the keypresses. Most likely, the calculator version doesn't have this problem, but whatever.
Oh, and I don't think that the point of his post was to "dis" you, I think he was just wondering why this program was featured over the many other snakes games out there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is bad, actually, you did a good job of mimicing the graphics from the phone version (which, I assume, was the goal of making this program), I'm just saying that he probably wasn't out there to insult you. Though, I guess I really don't know, since I'm not him.

I was once one of the dominant figure heads in the TI community, since you obviously don't know who I am. I've seen it all, I've heard it all, I've reported on it all. I know a "featured program" when I see one.
I never said it crashes your calculator. You're obviously quite threatened by any criticism, as you are quick to defend yourself in an irrational manner. "Crash" and "Freeze"... yeah, they're the same thing last I checked.
And let me tell you, if your claim to fame is gonna be graphics, your game gets boring very fast. Trust me, Final Fantasy 8 was beautiful, but it sucked.

Umm, was there not already a game for the 89 like that? Why am I asking a question? I know that there is, because I used to have it! There is also Uncle worm for the 83+. I love both games. Maybe I will get the 89 one, seeing that it is not in french.
