New Features Added
Posted by Nathan on 29 October 1999, 08:14 GMT
We are happy to annnounce the addition of two new features. The first feature is that we now have Author Rankings and File Rankings on our file- and author-info pages! It will rate the weekly and all-time popularity of programs daily, based on the number of downloads. These non-scientific rankings (we may have missed a couple downloads after loading old logs) are supplemented by toplists in our Archives section. The second feature is the ability to download documentation from an archive's fileinfo page. You may now download TXT and DOC files and the like. All of the ZIP files in our archives will have this feature implemented, and authors may email filearchive@ticalc.org to have us disable this feature for any of their programs.

I think it would be cool to have a new files page, where files aren't just displayed, they are also cross-referenced with the most popular downloads of that week. There could be a bunch of sorting features, if necessary.

Side note: check the filearchive@ticalc.org link in the news item. It should be a mailto: link instead of an http: link. :)

I don't think this would be very good because if people are going to almost always pick the most popular program first and forget the least popular, then the whole thing will be unbalanced. Great programs that are brand new will be on the bottom of the list! New programs shouldnt be in the list until after the first week or so just to make it fair.

Lets get a window for the front page that shows the Top Ten from the previous week. With the scripting wizardry of this place it can be updated to show the last week in real time.

Great idea, just one suggestion, maybe have a place that tells which calc the file is for. Some files have a calc number in them, but some don't. For example, which calc is the "ztetris.zip" for.

Wow, All I have to contribute is 28 files and I am in the listings, or for now. I contributed like 4 so far, that is because I don't have too much time to submit all of mine. In a month, I should be in there, close to the bottom in the busiest authors, but in there.

Within three days, imfamously censored (sort of) Ti-calc went anarchy, and imfamously uncensored segfault.org went under total censorship. Kind of odd.
oh well, until segfault gets going... MAE LING NAKED AND PETRIFIED!

This is EXCELLENT! Now, HOW ABOUT INCLUDING SOME SCREENSHOTS FOR THE SHELLS AND THE WINDOWS UTILITIES AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT DOESN'T HAVE SCREENSHOTS YET?

Hey just for all the Hays fans out there. I'm officially announcing the opening of Hays IP. Me along with 6 other people have decided to take shitty programs written in BASIC and fix the bugs, add graphics, rename, etc. and rerelease them. Our first was Basgrey, our fix for greylib for the 89, and our second will be Nuclear Apocolypse, the fix for Global-Thermal-Nuclear War for the 89. If you have any comments goto the website above.

I think that the new features that you guys added are great. I love being able to know how many people have downloaded my program instead of wondering if anyone has downloaded it. Keep up the good work guys!
