It seems to me that all programmers have no problem taking all the fame, credit, respect, and slef pride when their programs are lauded in a POTM or something to that extent. Heck, they even command you do so. Yet, given one complaint they go on a rage saying how poorly they are respected, treated, blah, blah blah...
You guys are only seeing the negative sides, look at the positive side for once. How many e-mails do you get a day saying how good your program is? HOw many people love what you have created? How many treasure you math utility? I hear no complaints in those instances. Don't be partisan, show both sides to the argument so you won't look dim.

Its your choice to be a programmer, you get all the fame glory that comes with it. Sadly, you also get a lot of crap too.

P.S. Aren't all the games out there ports of some sort? I'm pretty sure Bill Nagel didn't think of mario...

Yes, a majority of the games are ports in that sense, that they came from other, non-graphing calculator platforms.

In the context of this site, the term "port" means from one calculator to another.

Actually, I'm surprised it wasn't posted by Andy. He usually posts the POTM stuff. And another surprise, Nick posted the news item about the Newsletter instead of the Newsletter Editor (Eric). :)

It's a massive conspiracy. I've really been the Newsletter editor for six months now. This was done so we could confuse you to the point where you would flame us so badly on the comment board, screaming about inconsequential things, that nobody seemed to care anymore.

You know, I used to sympathize with Bryan for some of the things that happened to him, but the guy seems to have more time on his hands to search out every tiny incorrect or inconsistent detail this site has. In fact, It's almost as if he's spent more time searching out these errors or inconsistencies now than he spent updating the files when he actually worked on the site. I applaud him for his eye, but laugh at him for the use of it and his free time. Get a girl, get a job, get a life, get something.

Get the realization that it's only a website about calculators, and that we're human.

I think we should blame every error and and every mistake every human has ever made on simple human fraility.
</sarcasism>

And frankly, when you say its only a site about calculators, does that imply its really not that important? If so, why are you working at the site? What would people say if a staffer at linux.org said, "Oh gee, its only a site about Linux. Get a life."?

What's that supposed to mean? I was in no way denouncing ticalc.org, I was merely poking fun at Mr. Rabeler :) Although, I have nothing against him, I actually rather enjoy most of his comments. I think I'm just jealous that he catches stuff that I don't.

Actually, I think BlueCalx has too much time on his hands, making up all these jokes and everything. :)

And, actually I spent more time on the file archives than I do making comments on these boards.

I do remember aselle on IRC saying that he didn't want to post the results, so he figured he'd have someone else do it...like Quardox. (Not that you don't necessarily already know that :)

I think Tezxas should have won in the 89 ASM competition. 8000 games should have easily beaten the extremely crappy "Yoshi" game! YOSHI SUCKS!!! TEZXAS RULES!!!

Is the 89 Yoshi game the same thing on Game Boy? If it is the same, then I agree.

Tezxas would be great... If i could see the thing. Why not just make it huge instead of that little? it's so little i can't even make out the little character that i'm supposed to be. Also, a grey scale version would be number 1 i'm sure. Fix the size and greyscale problem and then you will have my vote.

Now how do you get a TV screen reduced to the size of a TI89? I know! Take out 3/4 of the pixels!

Grayscale would be nice, especially mip-mapping. Instead of taking out 3/4 of all pixels , why not blend them together? Speed, that's why.

BTW, a faster solution to the screen problem IMO is to alternate every pixel per group of 4. If it goes on fast enough, presto! Grayscale!

Also, the current version has a zoom feature: press Diamond and arrow keys to zoom around the screen (note: might move character).

The Dizzy series (except 1) works very fast, it syncs to interrupts! (but I'm stuck in dizzy 6)

POTM result so disapointed me that I have thought to abandon Tezxas developement. However, these messages of support gave me power to continue developement. I wanted to form home page tezxas.ticalc.org but later I received letter to reapply request because they losed my application.

The biggest problem with grayscale is not slowing down of emulator itself (I can always reduce refresh rate), but the fact that this picture is time sensitive. For example, I update screen in interrupt and when comes time to update screen gray pixels will become black because the whole grayscale system is based on slowness of LCD.

Currently I think about TI92+ version. The idea for screen updating on this machine came from one sprite routine.

No offense, but don't take the POTM results so seriously. The process has some major flaws right now, and thus you can't assume its an accurate picture of the TI community's feelings about your program. And look, it got 17 votes - second place. Not too bad. :)

Please don't get disappointed and don't abandon your great program!!!
Hey, ppl who voted for Stupid Yoshi! Look what you've done!!!:-O
Soon after you released Tezxas, I converted many of my favorite Spectrum games, and they look and play just terrific! Now I feel bad that I didn't post them then. But I'm going to correct the situation and release a Gamepak1, if you don't mind. Among these games are: Lode Runner, H.A.T.E., Death Chase, Bomb Jack, River Raid, Big Nose in the USA, Sai Combat, Paper Boy 2, Ad Astra, etc.
In what stage is Tezxas right now? I hope you will release a new version soon. I check the WOS website every day.

P.S. you really, really need to implement a grayscale and save option.

Would be nice, but unfortunantely illegal. Codemasters prohibited free distribution of their old games. This includes Dizzy, 4 soccer simulator and Fruit machine simulator 2.

The same situation is with Psygnosis, so we can not port Lemmings to TI89.

All other companies until now did not complain, and many allowed.

Geez, 'illegal' is stupid. It is 'illegal' to have a GIF image on a website without paying Unisys $2000. It is also 'illegal' to clone Tetris without paying a license fee. Abandonware is also 'illegal'. It's also 'illegal' to have ROMz even if you do own the carts. Where I live, it is also 'illegal' to cross the street in the middle of a road. I think I'll move to Hong Kong, where piracy is legal .-)

Move to Russia! (my motherland) Piracy is legal there too!:)

As for Dizzy, I don't think its a type of game you can really play with Tezxas (because of graphics). Well maybe only with the zoom keys. But with a grayscale even Dizzy will look good enough.

Or to piracy paradise FR Yugoslavia. Their pirates have in computer magazines up to two pages long anounces while noone anounces "legal" software. And Micro$oft simply does not work there.
