ticalc.org Breaks 8,000 Archived Files
Posted by Phil on 17 October 1999, 00:44 GMT

I'm happy to announce that ticalc.org has amassed more than 8,000 files (specifically, 8,001). In addition to this, there are 4,107 screenshots, 181 of which are animated.
The directory with the most files is TI-82 BASIC Games with 490 files, the runner up being TI-83 BASIC Games with 315 files.
In related news, we broke our weekly requests record again with 1,623,549 requests in the week starting on October 10. The previous record was set on September 12 with 1,534,428 requests. For more information on our web statistics, please click here.

Since I'm inferring from this that you mean the 8,000th file, I've linked to the fileinfo of the 8,000th file above.

I think ticalc.org needs to set up there discussion board up to automatically refresh every couple of minutes, as fast as new comments come in. I never realized how many people pay attention to every detail of what happens in the Ti community.

The comment boards update every five minutes, assuming there are new comments for them. This is a pretty reasonable time, I think.

if ya want to talk irc use efnet and goto #ti, #dimti, #ti-files ( i think thoes are the chans but i havent used efnet in ages... i use dalnet cause i cant live with out chanserv... :-Þ )

Re: Re: post a ti IRC channel....

First it's #dim-ti (note the hyphen. without it you'll be going, "Huh? Why am I the only one here?" while you could start your own ti channel...well anyway).

In case you don't know what EFnet servers are out there, here are a few:

North America (United States)--these servers take just about anybody, regardless of the continent you're on
irc.concentric.net
irc.anet-stl.com
irc-w.frontiernet.net <- what I use :)
irc.lightning.net
irc.prison.net
irc.core.com
irc.mindspring.com (what? no earthlink irc? #()&%)(@)
irc-roc.frontiernet.net
irc.cs.cmu.edu

Australia: efnet.telstra.net.au

Europe: efnet.demon.co.uk
irc.isdnet.fr
irc.ced.chalmers.se
irc.relcom.ru (the newest EFnet server; about a week old)

Middle East: irc.inter.net.il

All servers listen on port 6667--there may be others--type /motd to find out what ports you can use for a particular server (you need to be connected)

Okay. now are there any ti communities on undernet or dalnet? (i would ask ircnet, but when there are only five servers based in the us?...well fine, are there any ti communities on ircnet?)

(Now there's something to be said about a person w/o a life ;) watch tectono beasty spider rip my ass to pieces)

1) No, there isn't TI stuff on other networks.
2) IRC.CS.CMU.EDU OWNZ ME (&@!)#*&@!)*#&!@#
3) I used IRC for three years -- if tectono, beasty and spider "rip your ass to pieces," I shall make it of the utmost priority to tear them a new A. :)

You were two for three. It's #ti, #dim-ti and #ti-files.
#tcpa is a programming group's channel, too.

None of them do me any good. My college has installed a firewall. No IRC for me.

My university has a firewall, and I can still connect to IRC. Just try some different servers.

If you are using mIRC, try File -> Options -> Connect -> Firewall, and enter in the information about the firewall, however that only works if it is a SOCKS4 or SOCKS5 firewall.

Um. Beasty, just quit with this "gimme all these unrealistic games" posts. Us patient, mature 83+ owners are happy with what we've got.

Sidenote: Solytare was only released for TI-83 ION, not 83+, because of the big ZTetris bug harrasment thing. Look what people like you have caused ... Solytare was my favorite 82 game.
