Is the e-mail adress new, or has it been around for a while, just a quick question

Are you ever going to redo that one shell wars vote. Now there are more shells. Back then their wasn't more than 2 shells for the 86 and stuff.

The results were about what I expected... but this month, I certainly hope there's no room for decision in choosing Lotus Turbo Racing as the best TI-83 game.

Is it really necessary to list 100% in the end of the total field?

Also, I think POTM Nominees should have animated screenshots.

I think that you should split up the BASIC awards, one for each calculator. This way, you could have more winners.

I agree, but just seperate the Z80's from the 68000's.

Yeah - I agree. That seems to be the most logical way to do it, without having 10 or so different categories of TI-BASIC, which I think would be way too many.

Yes, ASM has one award for each calculator, why not basic?

Yes, I agree. I think this topic was proposed before... What happened to it. I thought that was going to be implemented. Even if it isn't split into different categories, it would sure be nice if each program told which calculator it was for. I mean... Some of the descriptions tell nothing of the calc it's for. I know, I just get confused easily, but...

G'day,

Plus....BASIC games tend to be a lot more boring than assembly games.

Well, I suppose everybody's entitled to their opinion... I'm not sure what your reply has to do with my comment, though.

Respectfully,

I find it odd that SF2 won the 89/92+ category with a new version that crashes so often you can't finish more than three matches without the game going kaput.

To quote Tom Corvazier, the programmer (via ICQ): "but sf2 v1.0beta was published by ticalc without my agrrement. i know it often crash."

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the game and think that it's an amazing game. I think that if this were the first, stable beta it should beat all the others in the category. However, at this point the program is mere VAPORWARE.

I'm sure that Tom will finish it (he better, since he gave me the list of cheat codes), and it will be great -- but in this instance it just shows voters who are obviously biased by the promissing gameplay and graphics without taking into consideration the program itself.

Yes, SF2 AFC will probably be the best TI game yet - and version .14 probably already is - but v1.00 cannot beat another great program like Archive Utility 2.00 until it can go more than 5 minutes without crashing. In this instance, it just goes to show that ticalc should choose the awards themselves and that we're not worthy of voting.

I agree with what you are saying about reliability. Could you imagine the Toyota Camry winning best car of the year, even if it broke down every 10 miles?! What are WE thinking? Vote for functional programs my peers. Don't let good graphics become the standard at the expense of reliable, quality programming. I also think this is another good arguement for using the "real" TI-sanctioned SDK. Who knows what damage is done to the calculator's memory when it locks up during the game. It's hard to know without knowing why the game is locking. I know, I'll see a few flames over this, since SF is such a popular game, but I'm entitled to my viewpoint too, ya know.

Old fashoned programmer (but not that great a one),

I don't know who submitted SF2 1.00 beta, but it does appear to be an official-looking release--documentation and such. If the author has a problem with it being hosted here, he really needs to email filearchive@ticalc.org and let us know. If he wants the file removed, we'll do so immediately.

But no one can complain about things like this if they don't bother to tell us--we're not mind readers!

So far as files being posted to ticalc.org without the author's permission, I have no way of knowing whether or not the author was the one who submitted the file in question. All I can do is make sure that the name and email on the form work, and that the file is valid and working, and that the zip file contents make sense. Of course, if the author notices that his file has been posted without his permission, he (or she) can always email filearchive@ticalc.org, which leads directly to me.
By the way, unless I've spoken to you before, please don't email me directly. If you email the filearchive address instead, I'll get to it faster.

Okay, basically, this whole thing has gone completely out of control. Basically, my point is that some people at ticalc.org had bad judgment and deleted several comments that did not break any written rules. I have talked with both sides of this argument and from what I can gather, this is a long running feud that started once Bryan was fired from ticalc.org and banned from #ti. I think it would be good for all of us to just forget about what's in the past; it's been a very long time since we all got along. On Bryan's side, there is some misuse of power at ticalc.org. On ticalc.org's side, Bryan holds a hatred/grudge against certain if not all members of ticalc.org. At a time, it was a justified hatred, but it has been about a year now and it has gone on too long. I am truly sorry if I have offended anyone or if I've made any enemies with my current and past posts, but I had to do what I did.
