Diamonds for the TI-86
Posted by Kirk on 7 June 1999, 20:53 GMT

Diamonds v1.0 has been released for the TI-86 by Jonah Cohen . The game features many types of blocks, external level support, an included 15 level standard set, speed control, and more. In addition, an on-calculator level editor is included in the package, allowing people to make their own levels. A new directory will be created on ticalc.org for those levels once they are received.

this game rules
one thing though:
isn't this game based on the joe w. version from the 83 from long ago? the levels and blocks look the same, but joe's name isn't anywhere. was this version made from scratch or is it a port?

It's a port. Joe Wing (for short) created the 83 version, and then not too long ago, an 89 version. This could be considered a port of either one.

This is in response to a couple people's questions regarding Joe W's versions of Diamonds. First of all, my version is based on the TI-89 version (I don't have a TI-83 and have never played that version). However, no code was used; this is a total rewrite (different language, for one thing). The reason Joe isn't mentioned in the documentation is simply because I forgot :-)
And for people who want a description of the game, either download it and look at the readme, or else just click on the description button to the left of the filename.

you could try using wine (winehq.com). I am able to get winlink up and get wtran8x by sami up. You could also give vmware a go (vmware.com)

It's really cool that now Diamonds is now available for the 86, but check this out programmers, other calculators like the hp series got way better games and programs than the ti calcs, keep that in mind!!!

Ok.....that is nice but TIcalc.org is for TI's so I don't think we care =P. BTW this isn't a port I know I talk to Johan all the time and I was a beta tester. Great game!

Snnnnnort!

Better games but worse graphics... Hmm.
(Fun of games) * (graphics) = (quality)
? * .3 = .3?
Now, just multiply ? by .3

Diamonds Level directory soon?
Kane

Is there going to be a level directory just for Diamonds 1.0 soon? So far I've uploaded 2 levels (Matt's levels - which weren't that great, and Shockwave - a little harder) :P and had to put them in the Misc. dir where they didn't end up showing up :(

Re: Diamonds Level directory soon?
Diamonds

I read something about a new 'Diamonds' level directory under the levels subdirectory in the 86 section.

Ok since my Shockwave levels seem to be in limbo on the ticalc server, the "(webpage)" link links to them (if anybody cares) =P

A little off topic but....
ramza boulve

HELP I downloaded yoshi's cookie for the 86 and after i played it a few times. (addictive game) and then I shut off my calc. Now when i try to turn it on, all I get is a message that says...

Your batteries are low.
Recommend change of batteries.

And when i press a button the calc freezes.

But, I have changed the batteries, and I have even takin out the backup batterie and put in a new one. So, I know it isn't those.

ROM 1.3
Using Ashell

any ideas?

Don't take this the wrong way, but did you make sure the new batteries you put in the calc were any good? (Could've been dead when you bought 'em.)

Also, if you pull all the batteries out -- once you do this, hit [ON] a coupla' times to drain all the power -- and leave it sit for about a half-hour or so (just to be safe), then any goof-up in the calc that was caused by a program should be erased.
