Planned System Downtime
Posted by Kirk on 13 May 1999, 02:46 GMT
There will be a planned system downtime on Friday 14 May 1999. There will probably be about one to two hours of downtime. It will most likely occur between 07:00 and 19:00 GMT. The downtime is necessary in order for the ticalc.org hardware to be upgraded. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Hmm, if seriously tried you could still get a Celeron 300A ($75?) and OC it to 450,464.. even 504 if you wanted... with an ABIT BH6 m/b although I doubt it's a good idea for a webserver, my 464 Celeron box has been running smoothly since I got it 6 months ago. I just leave it on overnight downloading... umm, stuff. yeah. :)
And Linux is really fast (well, the boot up process and junk. heh)! I need a driver for a Matrox Millenium G200. Ugh, I need to learn how to use linux. Suggestions, ppl (specifically with the driver, since I can't even get into x-windows)?

What the old 486 could be used for

While reading about your old computer and thinking what a waste of technology it would be to just get rid of it I though up a few idea's for it. It could be used as a forwarded e-mail server for ti-calc.org (just hook it and your new server up with a network card) and if you don't look into that you should check into bigmailbox.com and they can do web based e-mail for you for nothing. You could have a coding contest and it could be the prize :-) Well I had more idea's but I have since forgoten them.
