TI-83 Plus Released
Posted by Kirk on 15 April 1999, 00:18 GMT

Texas Instruments has sent out their first shipments of the TI-83 Plus to selected vendors. However, some stores may not get them for a while due to various factors. We will create a new directory for TI-83 Plus programs once people submit some.

Is the outside of a TI83+ different from a TI83 w/ROM 1.10?

the outside matters

Our TI-83 Plus page is up under our Calculators section. There's not much happening there yet, but we'll be updating it as soon as we get more info (like ROM versions).

Rom Version (83+)

I believe that the latest rom version for the 83+ is 1.03 (TI's site says so =)

With only 24k of RAM, would Joltima fit?
Dan Weiss
(Web Page)

I read that the TI83+ only has 24k of user RAM, not flash rom, but RAM. Does this mean that Joltima won't fit?

Re: With only 24k of RAM, would Joltima fit?

RAM really isn't the issue. The TI guy posted earlier that asm programs will be limited to 8k in size. The stupid limit will kill Joltima before the lack of RAM will, unless it is worked around like with Joltima for the 86.

Does this mean an "AShell" would be required to run big ASM programs, or would we need a YAS?

Just thought I'd mention that the TI-83+ has been announced by Texas Instruments at the address above. So all of you who were skeptical... now someone hacked ti.com to announce that?!

Who cares?? We're not talking about Kosovo here!
It's a CALCULATOR. I like it as much as the rest of you, but that's all it is. These kinds of posts are so counterproductive, and they're all over these comments pages.

does anyone know if 83's will be able to be upgraded to 83+'s?

No, they will not. You have to buy a whole separate calculator.

Re: TI-83 Plus Released

Hey, I know this is great and everything, but
once Bryan Rittmeyer (or some other asm god)
finishes the driver port for the Expander II
to the TI-83, then we can all have a 512k
archive for less than the price of a new TI-83+!

$92.00? Well I think that a TI-83 and an EII
(for about $30) would make just as good a
combination.

Does anyone know anything about the format of
programs for the archive? Are they just regular
ASM programs? Mail me.

I got my TI-83+ today. It looks cool, but everything is exactly like TI-83. I didn't find any difference between my TI-83+ and my friend's TI-83, except for the CBL crap which I know I am never going to use. Even the TI-83 Assembly Games work in TI-83+.

Edhead123

I just got a Ti-83 plus for school thinking all the normal 83 games would work. I bring it home and connect it to the conputer and load in some games and a shell. I can run all the Basic gams well but the Assembly games don't work. Please help.
