Petition for TI-89 assembly information
Posted on 26 February 1999, 07:09 GMT

Dux Gregis and Matt Peresie have started a petition for TI-89 assembly information. When enough people have registered their real name and email address, the petition will be sent to Texas Instruments. If you believe in this cause, sign up today!

A petition for both TI89 & tI92

As the TI92 & the TI89 use the same assembly it will be cool if the petition was made for coth calculators.

Moreover, more people will sign on :)

If you want to know who I am, I posted previously under the alias G Dogg, but I now will post under my real name. I sent a request to TI for the TI-89 assembly information as well as a port of the geometry software to the TI-89 about a week ago. I got an official response and here it is:

------------

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

The Assembly documentation for the TI-89 is currently not available.
Unfortunately, I do not know when this information will be released.

Currently, we do not have a geometry application for the TI-89. I have forwarded
your suggestion to develop this software to the appropriate persons for
consideration.

------------

I encourage you to sign the petition and send e-mail to TI requesting the assembly information.

Hey, this is a great idea. But... make it officialy for the 89 and 92+ so more people will sign. They are basicly the same. I hope Ti will honor our request! The question i have is what will be on the petition (besides all the names). I mean the part where it says what the petition is about. That part can have a big effect on wether or not they take this seriosly or just some kids with possibly fake names tryin to make it easier to make games. Any comments are welcome. Whoever is running this please respond.

Just to clear up some questions that we have been asked. The petition is going to be for both the TI-89 and the TI-92+. Also as of right now March 1st the petition has over 350 names. Now as for the written part that will go with the petition. Dux Gergis and I are starting to work on that. If you would like to help us and tell us what you think if should say send me an email and we will be happy to add your ideas with ours.
Thanks for all the names so far.

TI-89 assembly info found?
Snake

Hey, this is a great idea. I have been wanting to learn 68K for a long while, but without any source of knowledge. I met a programmer in a book store when I went to look for something on 68k programming, and he said Motorola published something through some obscure distributor. If anyone has any info on this, please reply.

Thanks!!!

Re: TI-89 assembly info found?
Ed

There's a good book about the 68k microprocessor out call "The 68000 Microprocessor" by I. Scott MacKenzie. It has no connection to ti-calc programming but does give a large amount of information about the assembly language and some software. There is a lot of info about the electrical engineering of the chip which doesn't have to do with programming. I've never actually written an assembly program but I'm trying to learn and this book looks good. You have to cover the format of the files from op-codes to TI files. The book is available on Amazon.com.
