Program Ideas & Upcoming Programs
Posted on 5 October 1998, 06:06 GMT

Two new sections have been added to ticalc.org. You can find both of these in the newly created Services section.

  • The Program Ideas section is a place where users can submit ideas they have for programs and authors can browse the ideas if they can't come up any on their own.
  • The Upcoming Programs section features information on programs that are currently being developed.

Currently these sections are fairly empty, but they will be populated soon as users submit information.

As part of a slightly new site organization, the Buy & Sell and Other Sites sections have moved into the Services section.

The comments below are written by ticalc.org visitors. Their views are not necessarily those of ticalc.org, and ticalc.org takes no responsibility for their content.

I just looked at the new sections, and I was thinking that maybe the Upcoming Programs section should have a Place where you could intert a URL. That way, the programmer could have more up to the minute information avalable for anyone that is interested in their particular program. Also, Is the Reviews Section ever going to be updated so that people can submit Reviews?

Re: Program Ideas & Upcoming Programs
blah blah blah

Is anyone else disappointed? When ticalc.org announced a new section, I thought there would really be a new section. Not only is this "new" section a blatant TI-Files knock-off(Wasn't Ahmed even the Files PUDs guy for awhile?), but it also is practically empty. The only PUD I found was Ahmed's for the 86.

Give it some time! The only reason it's empty is because people like you only sit there and complain about it, instead of actually submitting anything. I'm sure those sections will have their fill in a couple of months.

If you're a programmer, submit your programs. The point is that it has only been up a day. Give it some time, man.

Yeah it could be a good section, but right now it doesn't live up to the hype. "The new section" has been a secret for the past month, but now that it is here, you have to wonder why the ticalc.org guys were so secretive? Its just a blank page with a title at the top.

Submitted: PRIME6 and PRIME6B
S.T.L.
(Web Page)

I submitted two things: one for PRIME6 and one for PRIME6B. Though they haven't appeared yet. (However, PRIME6's documentations just got finalized, so it's going to be uploaded today. That took less time than I expected.) PRIME6 rocks - it's smaller and faster than PRIME5, and has a bug fixed. PRIME6B will really, really rock. (Though it'll be about 5K on the TI-85) It'll be probably 20% faster than PRIME6 is already. But it'll be a week or so before I finish cooking up the components of it. :-D

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is PRIME? It sounds like another useless math program to me (which is what STL has been saying he's been hearing WAY too often :P). But since I keep reading about it, could you please enlighten me?

Automatic Posting??
JBrett

Hey Bryan or Ahmed or whoever is doing the program ideas and the PUDS, why not have a submit forms for both sections and like the comments, have it post the programs or ideas in their area automatically. That would be cool, instead of having to wait for whenever the person decided to update the page.

     6 October 1998, 01:45 GMT

what is that?
me again

Philes, what are those? oh yeah, if they are still up, they should be at:
http://b60414.cwru.edu/ti-philes/
and
http://ti-files.gsu.edu
and I heard from IRC that this one will be the new homw (which most likely be down at the same time the other two are also, but they still call it "reliable"
http://philes.cwru.edu/

Re: TI-Files URL
Chernobyl

If you don't know, the site ti-files.gsu.edu has been almost completely erased from hackers, who obviously erased it all. The other site, the mirror, is still fully functional at philes.cwru.edu. So goto the mirror now instead of ti-files.gsu.edu

Yep...The Files was deleted...but it's alright...we have a CD burned every Friday with a backup, and the mirror is still fine.

Yes, that is for emphasis. If you press the post button more than once, it will post a lot of copies of your post in the comments section for the article.

Now go back to having no life...

little off subject
someotherguy

does anyone here know of an easy way to run 85 zshell programs on an 86? (ie daedalus)

     6 October 1998, 23:05 GMT

Re: little off subject
Person of Sorts

Try using shells like Rascall. Very off the subject

Re: little off subject
Sam

Yeah, Rascall or ASE. Except neither program will run Daedalus. You'll just have to wait till CLEM finishes Maze 3-D.

Person who wonders

You know, I thought the new section would have to do with the Ti-Calc Experiment, password access only, page.

So, when is whoever going to get around to updating the program ideas section? I'd like to see what other people think . . .

Many programs are duplicated in the ideas section. They should also be sorted into type of program (math, utility, arcade game, ...) so you don't have to read them all.
