Preview of Silmarils 98
Posted on 30 August 1998, 04:57 GMT
Olivier Carpentier is currently developing Silmarils 98 for the TI-82. This is a Street Fighter 2 type game where you select a fighter and try to kill other fighters. This game will have artifical intelligence for the calculator controlled fighters, but the game should be more fun when playing another person on another calculator via a link cable. The link routines are the same as those used in ZTetris. However, this will only happen if someone else ports the game, since Olivier only has a TI-82. A demo or a beta version for CrASH should be available by October or November. For more information, check out the Silmarils 98 Web Page. This page is very well done and has excellent graphics.

This looks awesome and it's amazing that it's for the 82! I love the graphics and the head shots of the players are of anime quality!! I hope this gets ported to the 86. I would do it but I don't know any 82 ASM and I think is is completely different because the 86 uses the Z80 chip. Also this has a very nice web page. Keep up the good work!!

the game looks cool. to make it betteryou may want to make a player stat editor/creator and/or make a file where you could build up your fighters strength and then fight another person. then the people are tradeable and you could have competition with your friends!

This game looks really good! I haven't seen any decent fighters on the TI calcs. Notice though that the graphics for the characters are from the Gameboy version of Double Dragon :) (another awesome game) Anyways, I look forward to a release, and maybe an 85 port (I might even do it myself...)

You should add in backgrounds. That would make the game look even better!!!

Ooooooh! This game looks amazing, especially for a little TI-82! Hopefully someone will start porting this as soon as possible for the TI-86 so we can really have some fun! Anyone, if you can do it, DO IT! =)

There is a fighting game for the ti-85 but it is not completed yet. It is called Z-fight and it is almost down. My friend Eric is making it and I made the graphics for it. Check it out at http://www.acs.ucalgary.ca/~ehuizing/fighter.html
It also has backgrounds and stuff.

Ummmm, just one tiny little question, well, two tiny questions actually. Number one: Will this game have blocking or countering? and Number two: When it's ported to an 85 oor 86 will the people be more detailed since you have a bigger screen?
