ZTetris 0.92 Released - Fixes Bugs
Posted on 30 July 1998, 03:37 GMT
ZTetris, regarded as the best linkable tetris game for the TI-85, TI-86, and TI-92, now has an almost perfect TI-82 version. ZTetris 0.92 for the TI-82, released today, was ported from the TI-85 by Sam Heald. This version is not only 109 bytes smaller than version 0.91, but it includes bug fixes such as the background disappearing after pausing, speed adjustments, and adjusted gaps and information. After the pixel bug on the title screen is fixed, ZTetris will be ported to the TI-83 by Ahmed El-Helw.

Is there any way I can get the source code or the actual code for ZTetris. I really want the game but I dont have a cable to send data from my computer yet. Thanks.

Well, if TI can't achieve harmony among calculators why can't we? Well, ZTetris has accomplished just that. Once Ahmed ports it to the TI-83, you will be able to link 82, 83, 85, 86, or 92 together in any combination and play tetris over the link. Now why didn't TI think of that? I, being the only person with a GRAPH-LINK at school, provide all the games for everyone. But I don't have a TI-82 or TI-83, so I am writing a program for the TI-86 which allows the 86 to link between calculators. You still can't use the data, but you can give it to people with the right calculator. No more taking calculators home...

Hey, excellent! :) I have a few friends with TI-82s, and one with a TI-83, and they see ZTetris, then I can only give them that lame Zetris game. One person didn't mind, "It works," he said. Indeed, but I will send my highest regards and thanks to the person who finally ported the best Tetris clone to the TI-82.
(Thanks to Jimmy Mårdell for ZTetris in the first place, too, hehe.)

Ztetris v0.93 should be on ticalc.org by tonight. I have fixed 2 more bugs. Unfortunately, I added 20 bytes to the prog.

Porting an 86 game to the 83 is an excellent idea. It seems that, for the longest time, the 83 was left out of universal ASM games and programs. Being an 83 user myself, I found this to be frustrating, seeing as the two-player games I made could never be tested because my friends have 86s. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see other games ported to the 83 in the future.

I completely lost v0.93. Oh well. Look for v0.99 very soon. I have the speed, gaps, and title screen working to perfection. The only reason I don't call it v1.0 is that I want to release an AS v3.1 and CrASH v1.3 versions. I also want to optimize it some more. My title screen bug solution added 99 bytes to the prog. I am sure there is a much better way of doing it.
