Playability- 10/10- Great "Pac-Man" clone for the TI-83+; this game has excellent speed
Functionality- 10/10- This game controls very well.
Graphics- 11/10- Looks just like the classic "Pac-Man", only in black and white
Size- 10/10- At 3964 bytes, this game is small for its graphics, speed, and gameplay abilities
Replay Value- 10/10- This is a game that you will want to play over and over again. Very addicting.
Overall- 51/50- (A++) This is the best game i have played on the TI-83+ to this point. This game is an absolute must download. |

To me, Pac-Man '99 is a great representation of the classic Pacman. One previous review states that you have to hold down the keys to move. That is simply wrong. The enemy AI, which could use some improvements, and the levels are the only things that are a bit of a letdown.
Gameplay: 10/10 Controls are loyal to the original Pacman. You even "skid" a little when going around corners or turning around. Graphics: 9.5/10 as good as they get, but only grayscale deserves 10/10. Levels: 6/10 I would really prefer the originals. Implementation: 9/10 This is the best Pacman game around for the 83+ series calcs, and I highly recommend downloading. |

If you were expecting for an honest recreation of the original Pacman, prepare for a letdown.
Pac-Man '99 is an acceptable game, but it's so frustrating what could have been done with it. For starters, you don't move automatically. You have hold down the arrow key to move. This may not seem like a big deal but it changes the overall feel of the game right from the start.
Next, the ghosts move way too fast and are not smart enough. If you've played the arcade version of "Pacman", you noticed that the ghosts all purposefully track you. Each of them have different methods of hunting. One of them just tries to use brute force and chase you; another to cut you off at the next intersection, etc. None of that is here.
And, finally, for whatever reason, it just doesn't feel right. All the addictiveness that made "Pacman" is gone and the game is as dull as toast.
Overall, 4/10. An ok game, but it was within inches of being much better. |

Pac-Man is normally a great game. This was okay, but I was STRONGLY DISAPPOINTED. The levels are completely made up so you don't get the classic feel, you always start in the upper left corner, the enemies move just as fast as you (if you knew anything about Pac Man the enemies were slower), on some levels if you use up all your Ghost Dots it is impossible to reach some dots, and there are no fruit pickups. Not much of a Pac-Man, but still will provide some fun.
Good try: 6/10 |

Overall Rating-10/10 Outstanding ------------------------------ Gameplay-10/10 Outstanding Graphics-9/10 Superb Speed-10/10 Outstanding ------------------------------ This is an excellent representation of the TI-83's ability to recreate arcade games almost to perfection. This version of Pacman runs very fast and has superb graphics. The levels are very challenging with a classic look. There are the temporary invisibility, power-ups and enemy ghosts. This is a must have for anyone's calc. |
