Next version will be great. Overall: 7/10 Respectable, but until you get an opponent, it won't last too long on your calc. Poker 86 v2.00 by Scott Noveck is the first and only assembly poker game for the TI-86. The game features a very nice title screen, and once you get into the game, the cards graphics are very large, so the suit and rank are very obvious. Your 5 cards are displayed side by side, with a small indicator underneath it saying whether it is to be kept or dropped. You toggle the selected cards with the function keys (f1-f5), and hit 2nd or enter to deal. Exit quits the game at any time. Version 2.00 of this game has some big improvements over 1.00. All major bugs--there were several--have been fixed. In addition, he added scoring to it, although the scoring implementation will be changed later. For now, it is based on the probability of getting the hand. The playability of this game is pretty good at this point, although it could be worked on. The author intends to add either a dealer or two player mode some time in the future. For now, the only thing to play for is the score. Another note is that this program exceeds 6 kilobytes of memory, making it quite large for a relatively uncomplex game. This the author also intends to change later. If you like poker, this will give you a good amount of entertainment. Otherwise, wait for the next version to come out.
