Magic Quest 2 Act 1 is a combination text/graphical RPG for the 86. It does many things right, but ultimately fails as a game. Magic Quest has some pretty good graphics in the locations and especially in the fight scenes. It also has many cool features and moves you can do in battle. The menu system used to move around is also good. The key element to any RPG is its story. Unfortunately, Magic Quest has none. Sure, it gives you an ultimate objective, but then throws you into the game with no direction. You basically visit each of the locations in order from 1 to 5 and die fighting a boss unless you spend a long time leveling up. You can't escape the boss if you attack and aren't ready, either. The program is also too large (17K) for the short story. Check out Act 2 for a better game.
