Overall: 8/10 Good game, nice replay value.

Russian Crisis is a text based game that takes place from 1998 to 2050. Your role in the game is to wipe out 6 other countries (U.S., Canada, U.K., China, Japan, and Africa, in no particular order) of their armies, air forces, navy's, and also to get rid of the U.S's nuclear weapons supply.

Not all countries have all of these resources, so the player will not have to raise as many sources to fight all of the countries. There are four "save" slot to save your game progress. As 12 months of time progress, your amount of money able to spend for resources to fight the war increases. You can buy units of armies, navy's, air force, and nuclear weapons. You can also "buy" spies to tamper with American resources, the more spies you pay off, the greater the chances for your success.

This game offers a moderate challange. It took me about two days of playing around with it until I found an efficient winning strategy. My opinion is that this game has some replay value, but its large size and text-based nature will turn off the gamers that have their calc full of very graphical games and levels (i.e.: Mario 86).

But this game is not without its flaws. I ran into some error with this game. The most notable error was a label error when using the "force" option in the "attack" screen. When used this screen intensively, I came across the same error most times that I tried to back out of the force and attack screens. But I can get around that bug by not using the force screen in the attack menu. But the most disturbing error was when I killed off all the units of all the countries, I was presented with a syntax error for all my hard work. There are also othe bugs in this game, but these are the most disturbing ones.

In short, this game is a good game with a nice replay value. It sort of reminds me of Drugwars, but with a longer time span and a different story line. Maybe that's why I found this game interesting and fun to play. I can recomend this game to players who are not turned off at text based games and have some time in their hands.
