"BattleField 83+" by Thomas Dickerson is a fairly complex turn-based strategy game written in BASIC. Weighing in at a small 4kb, it resembles Stratego, but has several key changes that make it a bit more exciting. The map is randomly generated for each game, and it supports saving and loading of games in progress. You can move your pieces, which include spies and regular pieces ranked 1-9, defend, and attack on each move. The goal of the game is to defeat your opponent by gaining control of his flag; you play against another human player by handing the calculator back and forth. I found this game to be quite enjoyable both as far as aesthetics and gameplay; I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in Stratego, turn-based strategy games, or simply something enjoyable to occupy those boring hours of class.
Graphics: 9.5/10
Only grayscale would improve this.
Gameplay: 10/10
Speed/Size: 10/10
Overall: 9.83/10 = 10/10
Well done! |
