Attention span: 5/10 It's boring to play a game that moves slower than molasses Controls: 4/10 They are unresponsive. Implementation: 8/10 Amazing technical achievement Overall: 5/10 Needs optimization This is one of the many raycasters for the TI-92. A raycaster is the type of program that was used to write Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. This game has textured walls, doors, monsters, and even an axe. The object of the game is to kill all the monsters and find your way out.
This game is a valiant attempt. Indeed, I had planned to write my own but never got around to it. The problem I have with this version and the others is that the speed is too slow to be fun. In fairness I am using a regular TI-92, but still, it runs pathetically slow. Secondly the controls are unresponsive. The author should have compensated for the slowness by making the controls move bigger amounts on each click. My advice to the author is either to optimize his code or remove some of the features like grayscale and doors. |
