"Chessmaster 86" is a very good chess game for the TI-86 (since there are no others in those categories I can compare it to). The AI is pretty good, and the layout and interface is great too.

Pros
-This game is perfect when you need to fill up a large amount of time, and you will never get bored when you play this game all the way through (as long as you like chess).
-The AI is not extremely easy or hard. I tend to win about half the games I play, though I often quit the game early if I do an extremely stupid move. Because of that, out of my completed games, I win every time!

Cons
-The AI can be very stupid, and it sacrifices pieces a lot.
-The AI moves to the same places every time. (ex. If you move every piece to the exact same spot every game, then the AI's moves will be the same every game too. That should not really be a problem though)

“Chessmaster 86” is excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who wants to spend hours playing a game that can actually help to build your skill at chess. It's a very user-friendly program, and I could easily operate it. It's a very hard game, but in a challenging way. It even has special chess moves, like castling. The puzzles were excellent if you get tired of beating the AI (If you can :). The only drawback is that the harder the AI, the more thinking time it takes, and you may watch for a while. It's awesome on the whole, and I give it a 9.5 / 10. Great Job!
