I think this is a great program. It really portrays Dragon Warrior for the NES well, and there are only a few things that I don't like about the game. The fact that you must go back to the beginning of the game and talk to the king to save, which requires too much backtracking and could kill you is not at all convenient. Other then that I think that it is a great clone of Dragon Warrior. Great job; and I will wonder what new works the author will come up with. |

This is a truly amazing game-in my opinion, the best RPG for the 86. Even though it takes up a large portion of the memory, it's worth it. You play a knight (I think) who must eventually defeat the Dragon Lord, first slowly building up skill by wandering the continents and fighting unfriendly creatures.
For one thing, the interface is easy to use. You don't have to remember all the different keys for "pick up object", "drop object", "fight", etc. Just press 2nd, and a menu pops up with all possible actions.
Also, the game is long (that's a good thing)-it took me the whole summer to finish it. However, it never gets boring, or too hard, partially because you work your way up to different goals, gaining skill and tools along the way. You never lose track of where you are in the game, or what to do next, because Thomas Williamson kindly includes a program which shows the order of actions you must take-but not too detailed, which would take the challenge (and fun) out of it. |
