Attention span: 6/10 Because you can barely keep track of the ball, you'll get tired of it, even though there are several levels.
Controls: 10/10 Nothing wrong with them.
Implementation: 7/10 Not nearly as good as Orzunoid.
Overall: 7/10 Needs a few enhancements, but it ain't too bad.

Lunoid 86 is a Breakout clone made by Patrick Davidson. It features speed control, as well as several different levels to play. The objective of this game is to hit all the blocks with the ball, while keeping the ball from falling off the bottom of the screen. You control a paddle, and you have to maneuver it across the bottom, deflecting the ball whenever it comes near. Also, depending on where on the paddle the ball hits, the direction may change; this allows for aiming.

Patrick Davidson has made some amazing programs, but unfortunately this one doesn't measure up. His TI-85/TI-86 game Orzunoid is far better. It features special items which drop down, plus several other neat things. It even has external level support. The features of this are quite meager in comparison.

The speed control on this, although it exists, is way out of whack. The slowest setting is still too fast, and the fastest setting is ridiculous. Also, unless you adjust the contrast beforehand, you can't see the ball very well.

Right now this game is decent. However, it needs a fair amount of work before it is "the ultimate breakout for the TI-86," as the author claims it is. Patrick Davidson has already made the ultimate breakout, but it's Orzunoid, not Lunoid. Download that instead.
