Attention span: 10/10 Very addictive and difficult.
Controls: 6/10 Hard to move between 2nd and Alpha.
Implementation: 10/10 Very efficient code.
Overall: 9/10 Great game and use of grayscale.

Previously unknown to the TI screen until last week, Zombi released what is to be known as a standard-setter. Mars Patrol, the latest game to cause a stir among 83 fans, has everything that will make its code important and nothing that will make the program itself rememberable.

In this fairly smoothly animated side-scroller, you are the driver of a space buggy on Mars. Your mission is to drive around the red planet and shoot aliens all the while jumping over craters and mines. A fast-paced driving game, Mars Patrol could easily be another grandprix if the aliens were taken out. A quick-response time is key to beating the 256 levels in this Ion-only runner.

Grayscale emulation only adds to the joy of playing the 3k M.P. Be forewarned, however, you need to increase the calculator's contrast a great deal in order to fully see everything on the screen. Otherwise, smaller objects will become blurry and very hard to see.

The author's decision to release his code in this update should help other programmers to use grayscale in more creative ways. Just think, ZTetris with multiple shades.
