I have recently discovered a radio chip that I am under the autumn going to build a radio module around. 
This module is going to have a radio chip, a MCU and some passive components. On the
card it is going to be a G-loop antenna.  It is also possible to make this so small 
(30 mm to 40 mm) that you can build it in a ti-calc and connect it to existing power source.
The range is approximately 30 m maybe more. The transmit/receive rate is 9.6 Kbit/s
The hardware price for two are under 100$.
Is it anyone who is interested of this?
