In the old 85 you could find it in the Catalog,but with the Ti 89... :-(

The basic fact of life with the TI-89 is the reduced keyboard (as
compared with the TI-92). I am sure that the choices that had to be made
as to which keys and commands to eliminate were agonizing.
But surely an "x-th root" function was the most disposable of all the
commands. Not only is this less often needed than squaring or
reciprocals, but, as has been pointed out, any reciprocal power gives
you the corresponding root: the inverse of x^y is x^y^-1.
One advantage of the TI-89 and TI-92 working environment is that you can
extend the available commands by writeing your own small functions.
Perhaps in this case I would write a small function "rt" so that I could
find a cube root of 8 by enteriing rt(3,8).
