To answer your question, the reason the link costs so much is because it
actually has a CPU and various other electronics. This is supposed to be
the most reliable and efficient link, because it converts the TI's
propriety interface to RS-232 data. The 4 dollar link plans you see, do NOT
do this. You need special software to actually decode the bytes (i.e. you
cannot run a com program and CHAT with your TI using TALK for zshell, with
a "cheap" link.)


If you are ONLY going to send and receive programs, then build the 4 buck
link.. (I couldn't think of anything else you could do !!)
