Yes, you can replace the TI-OS on the TI-92+/TI-89.  These calculators use 
Flash ROM, which means the ROM can be overwritten.  That's why TI is able to 
issue ROM upgrades for these calcs.  A replacement would be quite a pain to 
make, but if anyone here knows about OS design and has some cool ideas, more 
power to you :-).  It would probably be more useful to make another OS that 
runs alongside the TI-OS, like a computer that can dual boot to either 
windows or linux.
