Heck, anyone want to start a petition? This is extremely annoying- TI
promised that these new calcs would never need to be replaced since all you
need is to upgrade the FlashROM and it will work just fine and spiffy- so
they release a new type of 89 with a faster processor (Editor's Note: I just
read that the processor is the same, but there's a new LCD thingy that makes
graphing faster) and an archive loophole lockout, but they don't TELL you
that- they try and keep it hidden. I agree with Indifference here- they
should offer a free or VERY cheap trade-in ($10+S&H is bordering on highway
robbery as none of us were supposed to pay anything in the first place) for
us poor saps (read: savvy calculator users) who bought the thing when it
came out.
First they don't give us any usuable info in the 89 and now this... thanks a
lot, TI!

P.S. Could a flash app be made to store things in Archive memory on the new
89s that have Archive Lockout? I posted something like this idea way back
before AU ever came out, where a Flash App could be used to store programs
and data inside the flash program itself so that you can get stuff back
if/when your calc crashes. Of course, we have to wait for the SDK. :P
