When I used my 85, it had ZShell that could detect BASIC programs, so don't
say it's not possible.  The shells that had the programs already in them
were written in BASIC.  Even when USguard was still written in BASIC, it
could detect basic from asm programs.  I do agree, though, that the shells
should be designed to detect and run BASIC programs.
