Government of the people, by the people, for the people... comes from Lincoln's
Gettysburg address. That's referring to democracy dude. :)
Whenever we talk about communism, we are not talking about it in its pure state,
its theoretical state - because the truth is, communism looks great on paper and
in theory, but in real life, it doesn't. The main reason is human nature.
Communism depends on the fact that humans will act like little angels all the
time, never wanting anything more than they have, and they will all work hard
for the good of the "perfect" state or government. It also depends on people
sharing everything they have. What you get when this is put into practice in
real life is a society like Russia or Cuba. Absolutely no motivation for anyone
to work hard to invent anything new, because there is no benefit to do so.
Everyone just puts in their "quota" and they are done. So when we, or at least
most people, talk about communism, they are referring to the communist
governments of Russia, Cuba, etc. China could also be considered a communist
country, but its also been somewhat capitolist in recent years.
Socialism is between communism and democracy (in some ways). Many european
countries are socialist, especially Sweeden where ticalc.org happens to reside.
:)
But sure, its more of an oligarchy than a dictatorship because there are 4
people in charge instead of just 1.
