eehm..  what did you mean with that? before the silicon chip? :) there is no
z80's that is not silicon chips.. :)
and it's not _that_ old.. early 80ieas if I don't remember wrong.
the z80 is widly used, so compilers are not very hard to find..

exactly. I for one, use UltraEdit and put tasm as a "tool", wich mean I compile
and link and stuff all with one keykombination in my editor. (cntrl-shift-0 now)
couldn't be easier :)
thats a big plus for doscompilers. they are small, fast, and easy to integrate
in other programs.

that was a big exaggeration...   It is not _that_ hard. in fact, it is not very
uncommon that you write one (or more) in school  when you study college level...
