********************************************************************************* * * * TI-8x 3.5mm Port Design * * * * Designed and Built By: Moshe and Michael Katz-Hyman * * * * email contact: mkatshym@erols.com * * * ********************************************************************************* I. Who this project is for A. People who own TI calculators who frequently use outside adapters (i.e. - comp. links, temp sensors, etc.) B. People who know how to use a drill and who can solder III. Enough of the chit-chat, lets build it A. Go to Radio Shack (or any other electronics store) and buy a 3.5mm port (make sure it is stereo) w/ at least 3 soldering points B. If you can't find one at the store and you have an old GameBoy which you don't find ripping apart, you can desolder the stereo phone plug and use it C. Backup your memory, and open your calculator D. Take everything out (including the circuit board) except the keys and the keypad E. Close the calc back up, and drill a hole in the bottom of it (see below) to fit your new link port | | | | | | | | | | | | ------------ () ------------ old link ^ drill here F. You will have to experiment w/ size of the hole G. Now solder the ground, middle, and tip o your new link to the ground middle and tip of the TI (see below) Tip ___||___ Middle -[[| | |_ _|]] - Ground |__| H. Secure the new link with some hot glue, and pray that it will close I. You might have to shave of pats of the new link, but eventually it should squeeze it. J. Now you have a 3.5mm link port for connecting cool stuff without the adapter.
