Note: This is the first real game I've made for the TI-89. It is also the first game I've made on a vacation at Guanajuato, Mexico.
About:
Astral is a shoot the asteroids game with a twist: you have a cockpit
view, you have to destroy all the asteroids, it has a highscore system
including the name of the
person who made the highscore, the asteroids speed up every once in
awhile, and it's just cool in general. Your screen is a three by three
grid. One dot at a time will appear in one of the nine squares and will
start to grow larger and larger. If it grows to large, it will explode
and you will lose a life (you can get hit three times).
Playing:
The numeric keypad (1-9 keys) is set up like this:
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
The screen is set up the same way. In other words if an asteroid appears
in the upper left corner, you would press the seven key.
Tips:
Keep you finger on the five key so when an asteroid appears, your finger
is one key away unless an asteroid appears in the center.
Use the | key (parallel key, left of the seven key) to pause the game.
E-mail me for ways I could improve this game or ideas for games I could
make.
Notes:
I am currently working on a new game called Astral II. You have your
ship at the left side of the screen and one ship at a time will fly towards
you, lasers ablaze. Shoot it three times while avoiding being hit (you
will have three lives as in Astral). Then the ship will retreat and you
will have to shoot it in the cockpit view.
