Hello! Welcome to ticalc.org! Since you are reading this file, you are probably in the process of uploading one or more files to the archives on ticalc.org. We thank you for this participation. ticalc.org would not be the site it is if it wasn.t for all the contributions from the community. Our file archive is currently based on a database of information, to maximize usability and minimize manual work for the staff. Therefore, the process of uploading a file is a bit different from other systems. To upload your files to ticalc.org you need a browser which supports HTTP file uploads. The file upload form is currently the only supported method of adding files to ticalc.org. The form can be found at http://www.ticalc.org/cgi-bin/file_upload.pl?a=1. You will need to have a free ticalc.org account to submit your files, which can be obtained by registering at http://www.ticalc.org/account/signup.html. The upload form has other purposes besides adding new files to the archives, including: 1. Updating Files 2. Adding/Updating Screeshots 3. Requesting Links -Updating Files The same upload form is used to update your files. To update a file you *must* have the exact same .zip name and you must be uploading the file to the same directory the original file is in. The only part of your file that will not be overwritten will be the screenshots, they will remain on the fileinfo page, so fill out the form accordingly. After you click "Upload File," a message will tell you that the file already exists. Check to see that the file you are trying to update is yours, and then click "Update." Within a few days, your file will appear on the front page as an update. -Adding/Updating Screenshots At the bottom of the upload form you will find four fields that allow you to supply screenshots for your program. Only screenshots in .gif format will make it through to the site. Any others will come up with an error. If you update your file, but the screenshots you want are the same *DO NOT* upload your screenshots again. Doing so will lead to duplicate screenshots on a fileinfo page. If you need to update screenshots, upload the new ones and make a note in the "comments to the file archiver" box at the bottom of the form, requesting that the you want these screenshots to replace the old ones. -Requesting Links Links are basically a copy of one program found in another directory than the one you are uploading the file to. From time to time, a file will fall under two categories, or more often two calculators, and instead of uploading two files you can request a link be placed into the directory of your choice. To do this, make a note to the file archiver in the "comments to the file archiver" box at the bottom of the form. If you have any issues at all regarding information about the file archives or if there is any way we can be of assistance to you, we welcome all questions, requests, complaints, etc. to filearchive@ticalc.org. We thank you for your help, the ticalc.org staff
