BackupMaster89 ============== Included programs: BACKUP - the main program BKUPBKUP - makes a backup BKUPMGR - manages files to back up BKUPRLBK - rolls-back files to older versions AUTORUN - someone else's program to automatically run a program at startup MEMGRAPH - A BONUS PROGRAM BY ME! draws a graph of free/used archive and RAM! BackupMaster89 is the greatest (there's only one other out there, and it can't handle two files with the same name in different folders) backup program ever written for the TI-89. It's in BASIC. I'm not gonna try to tell you that BASIC is better, but I don't know ASM and it works wonderfully. To start using BackupMaster89, send all four programs to your TI-89 in the main folder. They must be here because the program is set up to back itself up. Run main\backup() and select "Backup"; the program will archive all of its programs and back them up. Then you can select "Manager" and add your own files. Here's a quick summary of the "symbols": <- -> means that a file will be backed up every time a backup is made, and if it isn't found, it will be restored. <- 1 means that a file will be backed up once, and then only restored--handy for backing up all your games once. <- -- means that a file will only be restored if not found. You must have already made a backup for this to work. -- -- means that a file will be ignored (in lieu of a "delete" option). To time-stamp backups, BackupMaster89 uses the AMS 2.08 clock commands--but if you don't have AMS 2.08, it will still work! The program will simply say: No clock. No time stamp. when backing up instead of the usual Clock running. Time stamped. shown on AMS 2.08 calcs with the clock. If you have 2.08 but your clock isn't running (Phoenix Platinum, for example, shuts it off), it will say: Clock turned off. No time stamp. This is very simple, you add your files by going to Action and selecting " Add New"--it doesn't matter what file you select above. Then type the folder and name; the file will be added. To change the mode for a file, select it and pick the mode you want under Action. When you are done, press ESC to exit the Manager. AutoBackup simply uses AUTORUN to make a backup when you turn on the calculator. It isn't my program--documentation can be found at . Rollback is what really sets BackupMaster89 apart from other programs. With them, if you accidentally overwrote a game save (or your friend did), you were stuck, because it wouldn't let you rollback an old copy without deleting it and risking losing it entirely. But with BackupMaster89 it is easy--just go into Rollback and select the file. After it searches (it takes about 30 seconds to search 8 backups with 20-25 items on my calculator--it should take less on most because I have piles of my own BASIC programs being backed up), you can select what backup set from which you want to retrieve the file. That's about it--if you have any questions, feel free to email me. --Tom ThomasTuttle@earthlink.net
