/ ===================== \ | Backup / Restore v1.0 |-------\ \ ===================== / | | | / ============================================ \ | Author : Steve 'D.Nite' Ehrenberg | | Filename(s) : backup.89g | | Date : 06 / 10 / 2000 | | Release : Initial Public Release 1.0 | | Notes : First 'Real' Program for the | | TI-89, or any calculator for | | that matter. | \ ============================================ / | | | / ===================================================================== \ | Backup / Restore is my first real project for any calculator. I've | | Played around alot with the 82, 86, and 89 BASIC and just decided to | | Acually doing something useful. I've only seen a few other programs | | that backup your data, and they all sucked. Either they risked ROM | | problems, or they could blow up your calculator, or they were very | | user unfriendly or they just plain sucked. I started this program to | | give the community a new, improved, better, stable and user friendly | | backup program for your TI-89. I've tried to do as much testing as I | | could, but I know theres bound to be a couple of bugs. If you do find| | one, please email me at dnite@planetquake.com. | | | | :Installation: | | Installation is pretty easy. Simply transfer the BACKUP.89G file to | | your TI-89 and run BACKUP\INSTALL(). This will install and archive | | the backup files so that your don't lose THIS program in a crash | | either. After the installation is done, simply run BACKUP() from | | the BACKUP folder. | | | | :Backing Up Files: | | Using Backup/Restore is almost as easy as installing it! If you want | | to backup some files, you use the 'Backup Files' option from the | | Main Menu. When you select 'Backup Files', a screen telling you that | | it's generating a file list will pop up. This shouldn't take long. | | When it's done, enter the files menu and you can select any files | | you would like to backup. (Note: This process is only adding files | | you want to backup to a list. No changes are really happening now) | | when you are done selecting the files you want to backup, select | | 'Next'. It will now backup your files and bring you back to the main | | menu. Thats it! You've just backed up your files! | | | | Note: If a backup exists already, for the time being, you must pick | | an option to either delete the backup, restore and delete the backup | | or do nothing. I plan on implimenting it in a later release, but for | | now, it was just taking too long to make bug free. | | | | :Restoring Files: | | Probabaly the easiest of functions in the whole program. If you want | | to restore files that you previously backed up, just select 'Restore'| | from the main menu and it will automaticly restore your files to the | | folder called RESTORE. Another Note: If there are any files in your | | RESTORE folder that will be restored from this backup, they will be | | automaticly overwritten by the current files. | | | | :Deleting Backup: | | if you don't need a backup anymore, need to free up some room, or | | need to make a new backup, you can delete the current one by either | | selecting it from the main menu, or by trying to make another backup | | when one already exists. | | | | :To Come: | | Hopefully I will find the time to continue to work on Backup/Restore | | and other TI-89 programs. I have alot of work to do with this program| | but I figured that I wouldn't have anything to release for another 4 | | or 5 months is I was to try and impliment is all. Currently, I want | | to add a few user friendly features, like backup merging, multiple | | backups, better/smaller UI, non-flib version, and many more. If you | | have suggestions. lemme know! | \ ===================================================================== / | | /==============================\ | Enjoy! dnite@planetquake.com | \==============================/
