____________ +-------( Morons 0.8 )-------+ | ~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | Preview releasE | | | | (c) Tim FitzRandolph, 1996 | +----------------------------+ _________________ +--( What IS Morons? )-------------------------------------------------+ | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | Morons is a strategy/puzzle/think-quick kind of game. It is | | loosely based on the popular classic PC game Lemmings. | | Heres the nitty-gritty: | | | | You see the 'world' (level) from a top-down perspective. the | | 'world' is based of 12x12 tiles, and is 25x15 in size. You can | | not see the entire level on the screen at one time, so you have | | to scroll the viewport around... There are several different | | types of tiles (water, grass, metal, pits of doom, etc). There is | | also a little hut with a S on it and a hut with a F on it. | | these are the start and finish of the level, respectively. | | Basically, little Morons will start pouring out of the Start, | | and walk along until they (A) fall off the level, (B) drown in | | water, (C) Fall in a pit of doom (as you can see, there is a lot | | of really advenced AI in this game). Your goal is to keep the | | morons alive by directing them to the finish without any of | | the above happening. But, in an ingenous twist, you can't | | change the morons themselves (into builders, climbers, etc.) | | you must change the ENVIRONMENT around them!!! Ingenious, | | isn't it?? Anyway, you change tiles into other tiles that make | | the morons behave differently. Tiles can (A) change a moron's | | direction, and (B) allow morons to cross water. One problem: | | you can only change grass and water tiles, not Metal, blank, or | | Pit-Of-Doom tiles, thus adding to the challenge! Well that is | | basically how the game works... | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ _______________ +--( Game Controls )---------------------------------------------------+ | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | This game has slightly more complex controls than the average | | shoot-em-up, so I would suggest actually reading this part :) | | | | By moving the arrow keys, the cursor moves around the screen. | | this is how you choose which tile you want to change. to | | change the tile the cursor is on, press ALPHA. This puts the | | game in change mode. then use the left-right arrow keys to | | select the new tile you want. to place the tile, press 2nd. | | To abort without changing the tile, press EXIT. | | | | You can scroll around the level by holding down 2nd and using | | the arrow keys to scroll in that direction. letting go of 2nd | | puts you back where you can change tiles. | | | | pressing EXIT at anytime (except when choosing a new tile) will | | exit the game and return to the ZShell menu. | | | | Well that's all the controls, good luck! | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ _________ ( The End ) ~~~~~~~~~
