Included in this .zip file: 1. Poker game programs (v2.5): a. POKER1.8xp b. POKER1L.8xp c. POKER2.8xp 2. Poker Readme (v1.7) To play Poker (V2.5): 1. First decide whether you would like the full version (which includes rules) or the lite version (which saves space). 2. a. If you would like the full version, download POKER1.8xp to your calculator. b. If you would like the Lite version, download POKER1L.8xp to your calculator. c. For both versions, you will also need to download POKER2.8xp. (Now you'll have two programs installed.) 3. Open either POKER1.8xp or POKER1L.8xp. 4. If you are unsure how to play, read the rules (included in the full version). This is a regular (five-card draw) video poker game. It is 9/6 (you win 9X your bet for a full house and 6X your bet for a flush) Jacks or Better (you need a pair of jacks or better to win). 5. Finally, be sure to check regularly for updates. I am currently considering the following updates: a. I hope to fix the glitch described below. However, since this glitch does not seriously affect gameplay and would be difficult to fix, this update may take a while. b. I may include more options, such as jokers, different odds, etc. c. I may attempt to further optimize my game by cutting down on programming and improving speed. For instance, I may change to lists, which may help solve the bug described below. Known Bugs and Glitches: 1. A small glitch allows the remote possibility that one will get a certain card, discard it, then get that same card when more cards are dealt. (For instance, if you started with A-Clubs, 2-Clubs, 3-Clubs, 4-Clubs, and 7-Spades, and decided to keep all but the 7-Spades, there is the small--technically 1 in 48--chance that you may redraw the 7-Spades.) Note that this bug is rare and does not seriously affect gameplay. Update History: Poker game: v1.0 (4644 bytes): Original version. v1.1 (4661 bytes): Allows you to remember your bet. Changes payouts from 8/5 to 9/6 (which is more common in casinos and allows a much better payout rate). v1.2 (4740 bytes): Saves space without affecting gameplay. Also introduces new initial screen and menu. v1.3 (4792 bytes): Improves initial and final screens. v1.4 (6159 bytes): Adds a rules section and changes some of the text on menus. v1.5 (6146 bytes): Adjusts text placement on initial screens. Clears home screen upon program start (so that when the program is ended the calculator screen is blank). Fixes a major, previously unknown bug that prevented the program from recognizing straights, straight flushes, or royal flushes. v1.6 (6131 bytes): Improves loops to increase program speed. Removes unnecessary programming to save 15 bytes in storage space. v1.7 (6130 bytes): Rearranges program actions so that cards are dealt one at a time, not simultaneously as before. Removes unnecessary programming to save 1 byte in storage space. V1.8 (6435 bytes): Fixes a previously unknown bug that allowed you to bet more money than you had. Finally fixes the bug (mentioned in v1.5 above) that prevented the program from recognizing straights, straight flushes, or royal flushes. Rearranges programming so that cards are chosen one at a time (not just dealt, as in v1.7), which allows for fewer gaps of time waiting for the program to respond. Centers the second checkmark when holding cards. Removes unnecessary programming/loops when holding cards, which makes holding cards a lot faster. Moves axis/window specs to the beginning of the program (not having these begin the program may have caused a glitch, although I am not sure if it did). Allows you to quit the program when you make your bet, not when you see if you've won or lost (this removes some unnecessary programming). Makes it so if you hold all 5 cards, you don't have to wait for the cards to be redealt. And finally, fixes the small bug where, if you won 1 dollar, it said "1 dollars." v1.9 (6473 bytes)*: Deletes, upon exit, all the variables used during the program (this saves a lot of space). Fixes the major, previously unknown bug where if you ran out of money, you were not taken to the "Sorry, you ran out of money" screen. Finally, changes the positioning of the words "Sorry, you ran out of money" so it looks more appealing. v2.0 (sizes unknown): Overhauls the poker game by splitting it into two programs, which allows the game to run smoothly no matter how long you play it. Also, this prevents you from getting an "ERROR: MEMORY" screen after playing for too long. Also introduces a "Lite" version than comes without rules (this saves almost 1500 Kb in space). Further, it deletes a couple loops to improve speed, eliminates the clear-quit feature, and rounds the border so it looks nicer. v2.1 (1727/362/4766 bytes): Rounds the corners of cards so the game looks nicer. v2.2 (1673/308/4735/69 bytes): Saves space by changing checkmarks from points to lines. Creates the POKER3 program so that you may quit in the middle of a game by pressing "Clear." v2.3 (1673/222/4735/69 bytes): Saves 86 bytes of space by taking out the menu in the Lite version. v2.4 (1664/219/2367/589/69 bytes): Saves an absolute ton of space by adding another repeat loop and using more variables. (POKER2 is less than half the original size! Altogether, this new version saves up to 1788 bytes!) Splits part of POKER2 off to POKER3 (and moves POKER3 to POKER4) to avoid a glitch with the loops where cards would not show up. Changes the graph limits and updates the graphics (this is not really visible; it was done more to help with programming). Takes out unneeded programming and labels to further save space. v2.5 (3940/2613/589 bytes)*: Noticing that having 4 separate programs to run 1 game was both tedious and unnecessary, I combined 3 of the programs. This saved 42 bytes in itself. Also, the rules are slightly condensed (not considerably, though) to save another 118 bytes in the full version. *Note that since v1.9 (the largest known version), the size of this program has over halved in size, from 6473 to 3202 bytes (lite version), while also fixing significant problems and improving gameplay. WOW! Makes you really think about optimizing your games. ;) Readme file: v1.0 (1245 bytes): Original version. v1.1 (2650 bytes): Updates file corresponding to updated .zip file. v1.2 (4393 bytes): Updates file corresponding to updated .zip file. v1.3 (5006 bytes): Updates file corresponding to updated .zip file. v1.4 (5290 bytes): Updates file corresponding to updated .zip file. v1.5 (5579 bytes): Updates file corresponding to updated .zip file.
