The text is saved in the string 7. You can have as many pages of text as you want. The program allows you to edit the text, insert and delete words and characters, add and remove pages and copy text from other string variables! The program uses it's own fonts, cursor, and buttons. It's very easy to change the fonts or the cursor character by editing the program. Super-Notepad 83 doesn't require any programming ability. ******************************************************************** What makes this program an EXCELLENT text editor: 1. Super-Notepad uses just one string for saving the text. 2. It doesn't have any limit of characters or pages. 3. Super-Notepad uses all the string functions on TI83, which allows you to edit the text just like in a real PC text editor: -You can edit the existing characters. -You can delete characters, words, or even pages. -You can insert a word or character anywhere in the text. -You can copy or add any other string variable to your text. -You can insert new blank pages. 4. You don't have to push Alpha or Alpha-lock every time you enter a letter, by pushing alpha you change the character mode into the number mode, or the number mode back to the character mode. 5. You can change the fonts easily by editing the program SNPD. (For example you can change the regular N into the bold N) 6. The program gives you all the information about the text you have saved: It tells you the number of pages, the number of letters and the number of words in the text. 7. There is QuickView in this program, where you can quickly view the text without editing it. Known bugs: 1. You CANNOT change the first and the last characters of any page. To make these characters possible to change means to decrease the speed of the program by 3 times! If you know a way to fix this without changing the speed, please let me know. If you find any other bugs, please let me know... Problems with this program: (These will definetly be improved in the next version) 1. The pages in the text are not connected to each other in any way. If you try to insert a big word in the middle of a full page, the last part of the page will disappear forever. 2. The speed is not excellent. If you are running the game first time, or you reseted the strings, or you added or copied another string, the program will say "Creating last page. Please wait...". You have to wait about 10 or 20 seconds before the program runs. Also, the String Info takes about 6 seconds to check 1 page. *********************** THE PROGRAM ********************* You always have to enter SUPERN83 program. If you are running the program for the first time, click on DELETE ALL. After this, click on OPEN/EDIT. The program is now creating the end of the Str7. When it's done, (it will take 10 or 20 seconds) the program will run. The Cursor: This cursor is not the TI-83 system cursor, it looks like a small square dot. To move the cursor, use the arrow keys. If you want to change the cursor character, you must EDIT the program SNPD. Find the line that says |OUTPUT(F,G,"."| .Change the dot to another character that looks like a cursor. If you are not typing anything, it's recommended to press the TRACE button. This will increase the speed of the cursor, but you won't be able to type. When you press GRAPH, the cursor changes into the "Typing Cursor" again. Typing: To type a letter, press that letter's key on the keyboard. (Without pushing Alpha button). If you want to type a number or a sign, click Alpha button and then type. If you press Alpha again, you'll return to Letter mode. To delete a character, place your cursor over that character and push DEL. This will change only the current page. To insert a character or a word, place your cursor on the character, where you want to insert a word and press MODE. The program asks you for the word. Insert the word and push ENTER. This will change only the current page, and if your page was full, the last few characters will disappear. Next page: If you are done with editing a page, press ENTER and jump to the next page. If there are no more pages left, you'll automatically exit from the text file. Saving: At the end of the text the program asks you "SAVE? 1.Yes 2.No" Click Yes if you want to save. ADD/REMOVE menu: 1. New Page(s) - This will add a new page or pages to the text file (Str7). It asks you for the number of pages to create. Make sure you don't write something like 488756. This will give a memory error, and you will have to delete the string7. 2. Copy to Str7 - Program asks you for the string number to copy to the Str7. You MUST choose between 0 and 9. (It doesn't make any sense to put numbers 2, 5, 6, or 8, because they are strings that are currently being changed by the program). Then, the program replaces the Str7 by the string you chose. You will lose all the information in your Str7. 3. Add to Str7 - The same as above, only you don't lose the Str7, the program adds new pages with the contents of the string you chose. 4. Remove page - This will remove any page you want, except if there is only one page. If you write a page number that doesn't exist, you'll get an error message. 5. Main Menu - returns to the Main Menu. DELETE ALL: Use this the first time you run the program, or when you want to delete the entire Str7. QuickView: This will show you all the pages of your Str7. It's very fast, but you can't edit or delete anything from QuickView. If you just added or deleted something from Add/Remove, QuickView might take 5 or 10 seconds to refresh the string. Help: Help tells you all the keys that can be used while editing the string. String Info: Shows you all the information about your string7. It tells you the ammount of words, characters, and the amount of full pages in the string. It will take about 6 seconds to check a page. If you have a text of 5 pages, you have to wait half a minute or so till it shows you the results. This section will be improved in the next versions. Exit: There is a temporary list lNTMP3 and many huge strings (like Str8) used by the program while it's running. So, IF YOU FORGET TO EXIT THE PROGRAM FROM , YOU'LL LOSE MORE THAN 1000 BYTES OF MEMORY. ******************************************************************** Notes: - It's recommended that you keep one topic per page. If your pages are organized, it will be much easier to access everything. For example, you can have chemistry homework on the first page, telephone numbers and addresses on the next two pages, and your English and math grades on the fourth page. This way you can update the file easily without adding or removing any pages. - You should use QuickView more often than the Open/Edit, if you just want to read the text. - NEVER include such words as Cos(, Sin(, Goto in the text file.
