No fooling! 11/26/02: The program is the same, updated readme. If it's not obvious, the program is long unsupported. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTENTS 1) What is O-MATIC 83? 2) What do the programs do? 3) Why can't I edit them? 4) Hey! This was updated so I got it again... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) What is O-MATIC 83? O-MATIC 83 is a group of three different math programs: Super Recurs-O-Matic 83, Matrix-O-Matic, and Line-O-Matic 83. I wrote all three of these programs myself. I, and everyone else in my class, have made good use of them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) What do the programs do? Well, these are good for second-year algebra. Super Recurs-O-Matic 83 does recursive series of three types: Arithmetic (((x+y)+y)+y), Geometric (((x*y)*y)*y), and combo ((((x+y)*z)+y)*z). It can show all of the terms leading up to the desired one, or just the one you want (but combo takes much longer, because there is no real shortcut). The first thing it asks you for is term 1, and then the # of terms you want to show. If you are doing a bank account thing, and the first term # is zero (U-sub-0), add 1 to this number. Then, a menu appears, asking for Arithmetic/Geometric/Combo, or Single A/G/C. Simply give it the needed info (difference, ratio) and let it go to work. Matrix-O-Matic is a program for solving matrix systems of equations. It can do 2X2 (x,y) 3X3 (x,y,z) and 4X4 (x,y,z,w) systems. The only problem is in the way that it has you enter the data. Especially for the 4X4, there are a lot of variables. It shows a picture first though. Line-O-Matic is a simple program to find the equation of a line between two points. Give it X1, Y1, X2, and Y2, and it spits out the line in Y=MX+B form and puts it into the Y0 area for you to look at. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Why can't I edit them? Well, because I've protected them. There are some people out there who like to edit nice programs and put their name on them...I've put a lot of work into these, and I would like to keep the credit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Hey! This was updated so I got it again... Yeah, I updated the readme. The program is exactly the same, bit-for-bit, so don't get excited. Just editing this to say that I don't have an 83 anymore and long ago lost the source in any form I could edit it. I don't care...it's old, ancient history. If you still need help, you could try AIMming me, but this is UNSUPPORTED and if you get a response, consider yourself lucky.
