Dots V. 0.9b By Chris Weiland This is the first beta release of a little project of mine. It probably has bugs (i KNOW that the 2 calculator version definately has bugs) I've been trying to debug the 1 calculator version, so e-mail me @ cjweiland@juno.com if you found a bug. Also, feel free to edit my code to make it smaller, more efficient, or less buggy. Just send a copy of the code to my e-mail, and if I like it, then i'll update Dots. PLEASE don't add, take out, or modify any of the "rules" of the game. Rules of play ------------- The object of Dots is to get the most boxes. Each player takes turns by making horizontal or vertical lines. The players keep doing this until the entire board is filled with boxes. If a player makes a box, he/she gets another turn. In this version, there can be a maximum of 60 boxes. The player with the most boxes wins. Buttons ------- 2nd - place line Alpha - switch from horizontal to vertical (and vice versa) Arrow keys - moves cursor Del - Save, then quit Mode - quit Enter - pause to let the other player get data (2 calculator version only) Screen ------ 1 1 . . . . . . . . . . . 0 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . ._. . . . . . 0 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The players' scores are displayed on the left The number at the top shows which player's turn it is (1 calculator version only) The underscore is the cursor Known bugs ---------- There is a memory leak in both versions causing the game to slow down and eventually crash Sometimes, data is not sent or recieved by the other calculator in the 2 calculator version Notes ----- In the 2 calculator version, data can only be transered ONLY IF one of the calculators are in the home screen or paused. So, wait for the other calculator to recieve the data before unpausing, and remember to unpause after the other calculator recieves the data. In the 2 calculator version, I added in a pause feature so that if the other calculator missed the data, you could pause the first to let the other recieve In the 1 calculator version, if the program is running too slow, hit [del] then run the program again, and choose 3. This will refresh the memory and resume where you left off. Lastly, I haven't gotten much of a chance to debug the 2 calculator version because I don't have 2 calculators. So, think of this version of an added bonus :) If you have any questions, comments, or bug fixes, please e-mail me at: cjweiland@juno.com Have fun!
