YAHTZEE v1.8 By Chris Carlson If you like dice games then Yahtzee is the perfect game for you. Although It's just around 7000 bytes what it can do will make up for it. This Yahtzee has several features that most don't have. The first of these is the fact that it's available for both the TI-82 and TI-83 calculators. Second it has a totally real-time interface, allowing for greater ease of use. Third, it has a "Lie Detector." This checks to see if you have what you say you have. For example, if you only have 4 of a kind, and you try to pass it off as a yahtzee, then it will simply remind you that you need to have 5 of a kind to get a yahtzee. Fourth, it has an Auto Pause feature. Because this is primarily a real-time code, if left unchecked, it will, in time, drain the batteries. The Auto Pause feature will wait about 1 minute from your last movement, then pause the game. To get out of pause, just press enter. Time may differ, due to battery freshness. The fifth feature is the Auto Finish feature. If you have no more options left, then it will automatically display your score and ask you if you want to play again or just quit. WARNING: The 82 version should not be run on a 83. Because of Font differences this will cause output malfunctions. The code for the 82 was specifically customized for the 82. Beta Testers: Zach Stepek Joe Striedl Richard Pherigo Mark Lyon INTERFACE LEGEND: -To maneuver the "<" just use the arrow keys. The "<" is the game's Cursor. -To reroll the Dice, press Clear. -To Hold a number, position the "<" to the right of the number you wish to hold and press enter. You will see a _ under the number(s) you have on hold. -To select an option, position the "<" to the right of the option you want and Press enter. The Calculator will then use its Lie Detector feature to see if your hand is an applicable one. If by chance it is not then it will remind you what the qualifications are for that option and return you to the main interface. -To pause the game press the 2nd button. To unpause the game press ENTER. -To quit or begin a new game press the MODE key. You can then choose to Begin a new game, quit, or go back to the one in which you are currently playing. If you stay in MODE for more than 30 seconds the game will automatically quit itself. Do you know how to play? If not read this! The objective of this game is to fill all your options to get the highest score possible. You must use a little bit of stragety, luck, and skill to perform well in this game. But don't feel bad if you get a low score because even the pro's can get bad hands. There are 13 options to fill in a game. They are: One's, Two's, Three's, Four's, Five's, Six's, 3 of a kind's, 4 of a kind's, Full House's, Small Straight's, Large Straight's, Yahtzee's, and Chance. The One's, Two's, Three's, Four's, Five's, and Six's. When you select one of these options the calculator will add up the total of that specified number in that hand. For example if you have a hand of 4 6 2 3 2 and you choose the two's option it will put a 4 in that space. (There are two two's in the hand) The 3 of a kind's and 4 of a kind's. When you select one of these options the calculator will check to see if you have either 3 of a kind or 4 of a kind depending on what option you choose. For example if you have a hand of 6 5 1 5 5 and you choose 3 of a kind the calculator will add up all the numbers and give you the number of points in which it adds up to because you have three five's. The Full House. When you choose this option the calculator checks to see if you have 3 of a kind and another 2 of a kind. If you do then you will get 25 points. For example if you have a hand of 1 4 4 1 1 then since you have Three 1's and two 4's the calculator will give you 25 points. The Small and Large Straight's. This is when you have a sequence of numbers. For a Small Straight you must have four numbers in sequential order. For a Large Straight you must have five numbers in sequential order. For example if you have a hand of 5 6 4 3 1 then you have a Small Straight. Replace the 1 with a 2 and you have a Large straight. They don't have to Appear in sequencial order to be a straight. Small Straights are worth 30 points and Large Straights are worth 40 points. YAHTZEE This is when you have 5 equal numbers. It is customary to scream "YAHTZEE!" when you get one. In fact, one of the beta testers lost his voice doing this. For example you have a YAHTZEE if you have a hand of 1 1 1 1 1 or 5 5 5 5 5 or some other number. It doesn't matter as long as all five numbers are the same. This is the only option that allows you to get more than one. For the first yahtzee you get 50 points. For every one after that you get 100 points. Don't get your hopes up though, because getting a Yahtzee is rare. Chance This has no qualifications at all. All it does is add up your hand and puts it in the chance option. You can only use it once so be careful. Scratch This isn't an option to be filled but a way of filling an option. With this you can put a zero in an option if you don't want to use your hand for something else. For example if you have a hand of 1 2 3 4 6, your Small Straight is already used up, and all you have left open is your Fives option then you can put a zero in something instead of having to use it for something you don't want. There also may be a time when Scratching something is necessary to continue the game. To do this refer to the Interface Legend above. Rolls You get three rolls per round. The calculator automatically rolls the first roll of every round. Once you've rolled your third roll the calculator will automatically put you in the options box allowing you to choose an option. You don't need to be on your third roll to fill an option. To do this refer to the Interface Legend above. Now that you have a basic understanding of Yahtzee, play the game.
