[TI-H] Re: Which calc should i buy???
Hey everybody, we bought TI calcs because we thought they were or are
great.
We can not start saying look this calc sucks because has a small
screen... or this one because has a lack of memory the thing is what are
you going to do with your calc ?
I bought a ti92 a couple of years ago, becase it has a 68k and i wanted
to program in 68k asm, and don't wanted to buy and old amiga or atari
st.
The 8x line (82,83,85,86) have great features but the z80 has its
limitations too, the addressing space is one of thouse, the lack of
instructions is another. if you are used to bigger processors (80x86 or
risc or H8/300 etc), probably this can blame you (z80).
On the other hand the ti89 or ti92+ are far great than the others, more
memory a faster processors and a very complete one. Only the 386 can
compete with a 68k in the instructions area. (the 80286 is not powerful
enought).
What if you dont want to program in asm at all ?
What kind of math are you going to do ?
At last, if any calc fits may be you want to build your own calc (i
think is not as difficult as it seems). (it's not a joke, a good and
cheap processor could be a H8/300H or H8/300S, visit
semiconductors.hitachi.com).
Ale
