You misunderstood me.   one minute for 512k is with my 89, I've already 
tested and been able to do this.  S this is WITH link port slowness.  It's 
mostly all the protocall that is required of I2C, though.   The 512k write 
would only be needed to erase or format the chip.   For just a normal write, 
the time depends on the size of the file one is trying to send.
