ok, well, since those 2 haven't thought of anything fun (unless you have a
thing for cows), you could always try michigan. Not much in the way of
non-naturally forming tourist traps, but for natural ones, there's sleeping
bear sand dunes, pictured rocks in the u.p., lots of water for
swimming/fishing. and in ohio (just about an hour south of where I live),
there's the rock & roll hall of fame, and wright patterson air force base
(always fun to see what the airforce will do when you go somewhere you
shouldn't... :)
