whereas the spinterface is a powered version of the link port, the module
port on the e2 allows full use of a 6bit data bus from the calc, through the
e2, and into whatever device you want.
to be used more efficiently, it owuld probably need some line restriction
bit (e.g. a device would only send if the line was low.  and he would only
send after he asserted the line.)
the 8pin port comes from + and - voltage and then 6 data pins.
to use the mod port, you need to send the correct codes to the e2 unit. i
suggest you go to dh85.ticalc.org and browse the document archive section.
Specification 2 (v3) is most relevent to this discussion.   See section 2.3,
which discusses in further detail the methods of using what I call the MPCP
(Module port control protocol.  Original, eh?)
