i don't want to change the voltage i am just pointing out that it does
change over the life of the batts.  thus changing the time it takes to
charge that cap.  so over the batt. life your calc will slow down. 

if you would replace the r/c timer with a vxo (variable freq. x-tal
oscillator) your calc would stay at the same speed no matter what the
voltage applied to it.  the cap placed across the x-tal would allow you
to very the freq. of the oscillator over 50 kc or so.  i don't know if
50 kc would do much to the calc speed though.
