Hello all.

I am new to this list, and to electronics in general, for that matter.  
I have been reading about building a parallel port link, and I think I 
understand it.  I have all the parts I need except for the 3 cord copper 
wire (is that right?)  I was wondering where I could get this.  Is it at 
Radio Shack?  If so, what part number?

Also, if I find I am any good at this, I would like to make an IR link.  
Approximately how big are these?
