TI-H: E2 Update

Hi! I'm e-mailing you to let you know the status of the Expander 2 project.

Here's a summary:

 o I have over 70 orders!
o The first 14 E2s will be ready in about a week and a half
o The E2 driver is being ported to the TI-83
o The final price of the E2 has been set at $45
o 64 memory chips will arrive at my home tomorrow
o 44 PCBs will arrive at my house by the end of the week
 o I'll order parts for 25 more E2s in a few days
o My web site will soon get a major update
   (including pictures of the E2)

I have received over 70 orders for E2s, and I get a few more each week.
Thanks to all of you for all the support!

The first 14 E2s entered manufacturing on Monday, and I was told that they
would be done in about a week. Once I get them back, I'll need to put them
in boxes and test them. They should be ready by the end of next week.
However, please don't send money until I am able to test them and confirm
that they were manufactured correctly.

Alan Johnson <benjamin99@juno.com> has offered to port the E2 driver to the
TI-83, enabling all TI-83 owners to use the E2. He is not done (in fact, I
don't know if he has started yet). Bryan Rittmeyer, the designer of the E2,
has offered to help Alan out in any way he can. If you would like to speed
Alan along, please send Alan an e-mail and let him know of your support.
Also, if you would be willing to pay $1 more for your E2 ($46 instead of
$45), I'll use that money to help buy Alan a free E2. He deserves it!

I finally got a price quote from the manufacturing company, and because of
this, I have been able to set the final price of the E2. If you order the
E2 within the US, the price is $45 per unit. If you order more than one,
the price goes down, due to lower shipping costs. I'll have an online order
form set up soon.

I have ordered 64 memory chips for the E2. I am still selling them to
whoever would like to buy one, although they're going fast! Please see my
web page for info on how to order one.

I have ordered two batches of 22 PCBs, which I should have by the end of the
week. That means that all of you who have been waiting for them for so long
will finally get them. Sorry about the wait. This also means that I'll be
able to get more completed E2s manufactured.

On the same note, I'll order parts for an additional 25 E2s as soon as I get
the first batch of manufactured E2s back and make sure that they work. I
don't want to send anyone a lemon, so I'm being cautious here.

My web site is getting a little stale, and as soon as I have time to update
it, I will. I still have not gotten pictures taken, but I'll do that soon
and post pictures on the web site. I'll also include a FAQ and more
detailed information on how to use the E2.

If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. And be sure to
tell all of your friends about the E2!

Thanks for your support and enthusiasm!

Sincerely,

Bruce
