Fortuantely for us, the rules that apply to commercial products
to not apply to hobby projects. We can design all the impractical
hardware and software we like without a care for commercial
viability, because it (likely) will not be sold in the interest
of large profits. Often the point is in the learning and the
enjoyment of the design and implimentation.
Sometimes the possable applications get a bit out of hand
(Classroom whiteboard applications? Yeah, sure, thats what
chalkboards and overhead projectors are for), but isn't really
the point of many of the projects.
